ACT-the First Step: Planting Seeds

Acorn Counseling Education Services loves to support our parents! This 4 module training will assist you in supporting your child, whether they are in treatment at Acorn, with another provider, or you are simply looking to increase your parenting skills. You will watch 4 modules and practice some of your new skills. Then you will have a coaching session with Christy to discuss what you learned, either in a group or individually.

When ACT is just the first step

Our Planting Seeds Course helps you to plant the seeds of self-control. But it takes a long time to grow an Oak tree and get acorns. While your child learns from your new way of interacting, they may make decisions that are unacceptable to you and others. This course helps you to respond in these situations with calm, supporting continued growth in making good choices. 1: When ACT is just the first step. Our first video orients you to this course, reviewing Planting Seeds, and giving you an overview of the rest of the course. 2: It Doesn't Work! How we evaluate discipline with our specific kids. We learn how to evaluate discipline focusing on specific types of discipline and how they appear to work. 3: You can't give away what you don't possess. Parents need skills to remain calm and in their thinking brain while in the middle of intense situations. Learn skills here that can help! 4: The Choice Muscle Learn the mechanics of choice and develop a discipline plan.
